The number of museums and historic places is outstanding in Bonn. Here you can find a selection of addresses, we think might be of interest to you :
Beethoven-Haus Bonn
Ludwig van Beetoven was born in December 1770, in Bonngasse 20. The city’s most famous son left Bonn in 1792 to continue his studies with Joseph Haydn in Vienna. The museum contains the largest Beethoven collection in the world, such as the famous manuscripts of the “Moonlight Sonata” or the “Pastoral Symphony”.
The Hermann J. Abs chamber music hall with its excellent acoustics offers a wide-ranging programme. A visit to the historic neighbouring house “Im Mohren” with its “Digital Beethoven-Haus” is also highly to be recommended.

Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland –Bundeskunsthalle
Great exhibitions of international repute can be seen in the iconic building of the Vienna based architect Gustav Peichl which was inaugurated in 1993. The programme offers a broad spectrum of contemporary and historical exhibitions, shows with a focus on natural sciences and includes architecture, design and photography.
Each exhibition has its special fringe programme such as films and lectures. International pop and rock stars perform during the summer on the open-air stage. Also during the summer the roof top is an enjoyable place for jazz, rock and folk concerts. Not to forget the museum’s cafeteria and the restaurant, the attractive museum shop and the Walther König book shop.

Kunstmuseum Bonn
A further highlight along the Museumsmeile, across from the Bundeskunsthalle, is the Kunstmuseum Bonn. It was built by the Berlin based architect Axel Schultes and is one of the most important new museums buildings in Germany post 1945. The focus of the museum is on the Macke collection, the Rheinland expressionists and German art – mainly painting - after 1945. The spectrum of multiples by Joseph Beuys is extraordinary. The presentation principle of special artist’s rooms is unique within the German museums landscape. Important changing exhibitions and an attractive fringe programme are also presented.
The cafeteria with its terrace and the restaurant are preferred places along the Museumsmeile - with a direct view of the spectacular architecture of the Bundeskunsthalle.
